Sports Club Website Hosting
Fast pages when the secretary updates the fixtures list. Uptime when members are renewing subs or entering events. Secure handling of member personal data. Local support when something goes wrong.
Why Sports Club Hosting Matters
Your club website is the first thing prospective members see, the place existing members renew their subs, and where supporters check fixtures and results. If it's slow, broken, or offline at the wrong moment, you've got problems. Sound familiar?
We monitor 24/7 and fix problems before the committee notices - the busiest day of the club year is the day uptime matters most
You'll have my direct number - no ticket systems, no call centres, no dependence on one club volunteer who happens to know WordPress
You don't need to - that's what the monthly fee covers. We translate the technical bits into plain English when needed
Daily encrypted backups mean we can restore everything in minutes. Member data is also held to GDPR standards - separate database, encrypted at rest, breach procedures in place
Cheap shared hosting might save the club a few pounds a month, but when something goes wrong (and it will), the committee is on its own. With managed hosting, the chair, secretary and treasurer can stop worrying about the website and get on with running the club.
What Sports Club Hosting Covers
Everything a club website or member system needs to stay healthy, secure, and fast.
UK Hosting
Fast, reliable servers based in the UK. Better speed for your members, and member personal data stays in-country to keep GDPR straightforward.
Daily Encrypted Backups
Automatic daily backups of your website and member database. If anything goes wrong - hacked, corrupted, accidentally deleted - we restore in minutes.
SSL Certificates
Free SSL included - the padlock that proves member logins and payments are secure. Auto-renewed so the club never sees a "certificate expired" warning.
Fast Pages for Volunteer Editors
Caching, Cloudflare CDN and regular performance tuning. The fixture secretary isn't fighting a sluggish CMS at 10pm on a Sunday.
GDPR-Safe Member Data
Member personal data encrypted at rest, separate database per club, breach procedures in place, automatic activity logs. The committee can answer "where is our data" properly.
Direct Support
Real support from a real person. Email, phone, or in-person at the clubhouse - we're here when the committee needs help.
How Our Sports Club Hosting Differs
There are thousands of web hosts. Here's why working with us is different - especially for a volunteer-run club.
You've got my direct number. When the renewals page is down on renewal weekend, you call me - not a call centre in another country.
I'm a real person, local to the Nene Valley. Happy to come to a committee meeting or meet at the clubhouse to talk through what your club needs.
I don't wait for a member to tell the committee something's broken. I'm watching the site 24/7 and fixing problems before they're noticed.
No jargon, no buzzwords, no confusing technical emails. Just straight talk about what's happening with the club site - the kind the committee can pass on to members.
No problem. We migrate club sites for free. Whole process handled - files, database, member records, DNS - with zero downtime if done properly. The committee just signs off on the cutover.

Sports Club Hosting Pricing
Simple, transparent pricing. The exact cost depends on what your club site needs - a basic brochure site is cheaper than a busy member portal with online subs and bookings.
Most club websites fall between £15-50/month. We'll give you an honest quote based on what the site and member system actually need - no upselling, no hidden fees, no per-member charges.
Get a QuoteWhat Affects Club Hosting Cost
- Site complexity - A simple 5-page club brochure site is cheaper than a 50-page site with junior, senior and racing sections
- Traffic levels - Race weekends and regatta entry periods spike traffic; we size for the peak, not the average
- Member system - A site with online subs, bookings and payments needs more resources than a static fixtures page
- Support level - Do you want content updates included (fixture changes, news), or just the hosting?

Sports Club Hosting Questions
How fast is the hosting?
Time-to-first-byte under 200ms from UK locations, sub-1.5 second full page loads on a 4G phone for a typical club site. Cloudflare CDN caches static assets at 300+ edge locations worldwide. SSD storage on the origin servers. The slowdown most volunteer-built club sites suffer isn't the host - it's bloated WordPress themes loading 40 plugins from a committee member who tried everything. We strip that back as part of the migration.
What's included beyond just storage?
SSL certificate (auto-renewed), daily encrypted backups with 30-day retention, malware scanning, weekly software patching, Cloudflare CDN, DDoS protection, uptime monitoring with phone alerts to me, and email mailboxes for chair@, secretary@ and treasurer@. Plus actual support from one person who knows your club site - no ticket queue. Most "cheap" hosts charge separately for backups, SSL, malware scans and CDN, so the all-in figure ends up genuinely cheaper than £6 hosting plus a dozen add-ons.
How do daily backups work and how far back can I restore?
Full site (files plus member database) backed up at 03:00 every night, encrypted, stored offsite in a different UK data centre. 30-day rolling retention as standard, 90 days on the £50 Premium plan. Restoring a single file or the whole site takes about 15 minutes for me to action - no extra charge, no "premium support" tier required. Tested monthly so I know they actually work, which is more than most hosts can say.
How is GDPR and member personal data handled?
Member personal data sits in a UK-based database, encrypted at rest, accessed only over HTTPS, with access logs kept for audit. Each club gets a separate database, so one club's data is never on the same server space as another's. The hosting agreement doubles as a Data Processing Agreement under UK GDPR - the club is the data controller, we're the data processor. Breach procedures and a 72-hour notification commitment are written into the agreement. The committee can answer "where is our data and who has access" properly when a member asks.
Do you handle the SSL certificate and club email?
SSL is included and auto-renews every 90 days via Let's Encrypt - you'll never see a "certificate expired" warning that scares members off the renewals page. Email is £5 a month per mailbox with 25GB storage, IMAP for mobile, full webmail, plus catch-all forwarding so the committee only needs one inbox to monitor. If you'd rather use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 I'll set up the DNS records for that instead - either way, no extra charge for the configuration.
Can you migrate our club site from another host?
Yes, free of charge. I do the lot: copy files, export and import the database including member records, point DNS, test everything works, then update the nameservers when the committee gives the go-ahead. Zero downtime if done properly - the new server is live and tested before DNS switches over. Most migrations take 2-4 hours of actual work spread across a couple of days. WordPress, Laravel, static sites, custom PHP - all fine. We schedule it for a quiet period (mid-week, off-season) so a member trying to renew at the wrong moment doesn't hit a 404.
What happens during renewal weekend or regatta entry windows?
Cloudflare absorbs most of the spike - cached pages serve from edge locations rather than hitting the origin server. A typical club site can handle 50,000 visitors a day on the £15 plan without breaking a sweat because 95% of requests are served from cache. The payment and login pages can't be cached for security reasons, so I'll temporarily upsize the server for known busy windows (renewal weekend, regatta open) - no extra charge, just tell me the date.
What's the difference between the £15, £25 and £50 hosting tiers?
£15 Essential covers up to about 50k monthly visits, 5GB storage, 30-day backups - fine for most small and medium clubs. £25 Managed doubles that, adds a staging environment for safe testing of new features, 60-day backups. £50 Premium is for clubs with online subs, bookings and event sales at scale: dedicated CPU, 90-day backups, priority response time, plus PCI-DSS compliance baked in for card payments through Stripe. Move up when the club outgrows it - no contract, no penalty.
How do you handle WordPress security updates and Laravel patches?
WordPress core, themes and plugins get patched weekly - tested on a staging copy first so a bad plugin update never breaks your live site on regatta morning. Laravel security patches go on within 48 hours of release for known CVEs. PHP minor versions update automatically, major versions on a managed schedule. Plus weekly malware scans (Wordfence/Maldet) and a server-level firewall blocking known attack patterns. The 2024 average for hacked WordPress sites was around 90,000 a day - keeping current is the actual job, not a bonus.
